Fit for the Trail, River, Survival, and Everyday Adventure
Uncharted Supply Co. - The Barron Backpack
Product Review
That's exactly where the Uncharted Supply Co. Barron Backpack belongs - sitting on go waiting for you to make the next move!
Some gear gets pigeonholed into a single purpose. A bird hunting vest that stays hanging up in the closet until hunting season; A hiking pack that stays cramped in the corner until springtime; A dry bag that only comes out when the kayak or canoe hits the water; A travel backpack that spends most of its life tucked under a bed or an airline seat.
The Uncharted Supply Co. Barron Backpack is different.
This is one of those rare pieces of gear that feels equally at home on a trout stream, in the marsh creeks, strapped into the bow of a canoe, tossed in the bed of a truck, or sitting beside your desk packed for a weekend road trip. After spending time this summer taking this pack everywhere, it's become clear to me that the Barron wasn't designed for a one-off adventure — it was built to journey with you through life, every step of the way.

Built for the Outdoors
The first thing I noticed right out of the box is the rugged, waterproof roll-top design.
I’ve tested out plenty of dry packs over the years, and my biggest complaint is that they either have a zipper that is super hard to close, and has to be constantly lubricated and cleaner, or the roll top design is basic. These packs that look like dry bags are a standard box or cylinder shape, and you have to roll them down so far to get the waterproof seal that you end up losing storage. The Barron Backpack is built different - the roll-top closure is small and easy to seal, and does not compromise on the storage.
It’s a rugged waterproof material too. Crossing rocks, shoals, logs, and brush are no problem for this pack. As a fly fishing storage system, it is ideal. There is nothing more frustrating than spending the day on the water, only to discover that the gear you hoped to keep dry has gotten wet. No matter what the day throws at you, this pack keeps all your gear protected.
Whether you're:
Hiking to a mountain overlook
Wading a smallmouth river
Chasing redfish on the flats
Floating a river in a canoe
Running a kayak through shallow shoals
It's a true adventure backpack—not something pretending to be rugged.
An Outstanding Fly Fishing Pack
When I'm spending the day fly fishing, either wading a river or trekking in the marsh, I like to bring a lot of gear, but I don’t want to carry a massive expedition pack, but I need more room than a traditional sling bag or hip pack offers. The Barron fills that gap perfectly.
It easily carries:
Rain jacket
Extra fly boxes
Lunch & snacks
Water bottle
Camera
Dry layers
First aid supplies
Emergency kit
Landing net
Because it's waterproof, I never panic if I slip crossing a shoal or set into a deep hole while wading the flats.
If you've ever accidentally dunked a backpack while on the water, you’ll understand how valuable that peace of mind really is.
Perfect for Canoes, Kayaks, and Paddleboards
One of my biggest pet peeves is to have gear that is sliding around in the bottom of my canoe or kayak. I want everything to be secure, and accessible.
Dry bags solve part of that problem but usually sacrifice organization and easy access.
The Barron gives you the waterproof protection of a dry bag while functioning like a real backpack. It's easy to carry from the truck to the launch, organize your gear once you're on the water, there are functional pockets and storage on the outside of the pack, and you can throw it on your back if you decide to ditch the boat to wade.
For river floats, marsh sessions, and boat rides, it's become an easy choice.
A Dependable Go-Bag
I live on the coast of the Carolina’s and I believe that every house should have a ready-to-go emergency bag. Hurricanes and floods have shown that there’s never enough time to pack up when the natural disaster arrives - you have to prepare ahead of time.
The Barron is almost purpose-built for that role.
With its waterproof construction, comfortable carry system, and generous storage, it's an ideal place to keep:
Medical supplies
Flashlights
Batteries
Power banks
Water filtration and purification gear
Fire-starting equipment
Extra clothing
An emergency shelter
Food Rations
Important documents
Whether you're preparing for hurricanes, severe storms, flash floods, or unexpected road trips, it's the kind of backpack you can grab without thinking twice.
More Than Just an Outdoor Pack
While the Barron thrives in the elements, it transitions surprisingly well into everyday life.
I've found myself reaching for it on short trips simply because it carries everything I need without feeling oversized. If I’ve got an overnight trip for work, or a weekend flight, I’m taking this bag because it’s comfortable to carry, and rolls down nicely.
It easily handles:
Two to three days of clothing
Toiletries
Laptop or tablet
Chargers
Camera gear
Shoes
Light jacket
While the clean design doesn't scream "technical hiking pack," the straps and waist belt make it just as comfortable walking into a hotel or an airport terminal, as it is walking down a trail.
Built for Rucking
If you're looking for a backpack that can pull double duty as a rucking pack, the Barron deserves a look.
It’s durable construction handles added weight without feeling flimsy, and the shoulder straps remain comfortable during longer walks. Whether you're training around the neighborhood, hiking local trails with extra weight, or building endurance for backcountry hunts, the Barron feels more substantial than a typical travel backpack. Load it full of sand, weight, rocks or water!
Having one backpack that serves as both your adventure bag and your training pack is a win in my book.
Final Thoughts
The more gear I get the opportunity to test, and the longer I use quality gear, the more I appreciate versatility.
The best equipment isn't something that only comes out twice a year. It's the gear that you never put up because it’s earned a permanent place in your truck, kayak, or by your back door because you never know when you'll need it, but you know it won’t be long.
That's exactly where the Uncharted Supply Co. Barron Backpack belongs - sitting on go waiting for you to make the next move!
It protects your gear from the elements, carries comfortably on long hikes, keeps essentials organized on and off the water, works as an emergency go-bag, travels well on trips, stores outdoor equipment between adventures, and even handles rucking without missing a beat.
If you're looking for one backpack that can cover nearly every outdoor adventure—and a lot of everyday life—the Barron deserves a spot on your shortlist.
